Putting the Fun in Funemployment

Happy Sunday!  At the end of my second week of job searching, I’ll be honest with you, I needed something to cheer me up.  After applying to over forty jobs and spending hours whoring my resume across Hoboken and parts … Continue reading

And Now I See the Light

I’ve done it.  I’ve figured out one of life’s biggest questions.  How do you bake a crack-less crack-like cheesecake?  The answer: a water bath and mad skills (i.e. teddy grahams and mocha instant coffee).  But seriously, this cheesecake was delicious.  I … Continue reading

Finally Out From Underneath My Rock

I hadn’t realized how long it had been since my last post until I was in the kitchen this morning, and noticed that all of my baking tools were spotlessly clean, each one exactly where I put it when we … Continue reading

Just What the Doctor Ordered

This is the last of my finals week baking posts, super decadent chocolate cupcakes, for my oldest little sister.  She’s studying to be a doctor, while working almost full-time, and she still finds the time to be a wonderful sister … Continue reading

A Day Late, But Never a Dollar Short

I promise, I have a valid excuse for my blog tardiness.  Better than a doctor’s note.  The most ridiculous, delicious, “holy crap, I can’t read this in public” book I’ve read in ages.  Or maybe ever.  Fifty Shades of Grey, by E.L. James.  Now, my grandmother reads this, so I can’t go into details, but  if you’re a legal adult and not (at all) squeamish, this is the smut for you.  If you’re looking for a romantic, sigh-inducing romantic epic of the ages, this is not it; if you read this book for the love story, you may need to seriously reevaluate what you call a healthy relationship.  But if you’re looking for the book version of devil’s food cake (with all the dirty pleasure, and just a little bit of guilt), this is it.

With that, I give you today’s recipe, Oreo Cheesecake Cookies.  I made these for one of my sisters during her finals week, although she and her boyfriend devoured them the night I made them.  They had a unique texture, half-way between cheesecake and half-baked cookies, with a deliciously rich flavor.  They were also super quick to whip up and looked lovely — perfect if you’ve forgotten you promised to bring dessert. The Study Aid of Champions

Throughout my years in school, I saw a LOT of crazy study habits / supposed shortcuts.  From the crack whore chic snorting of the Adderall, to the nose breathers favorite, spending hours writing hundreds of ultimately useless flashcards, to one … Continue reading

My Own Little Taxi Cab Confession

This gallery contains 8 photos.

I have a confession to make.  I’m a dirty rotten cheater.  A downright  philanderer.  And the victim of my wicked ways?  Chocolate.  Rich and sweet, I’ve had a love affair with chocolate since before I can remember.  We’re still hot … Continue reading

I’ll Never Buy a Twix Bar Again

These Caramel Chocolate Shortbread Bars are freakin’ delicious.  The homemade caramel was divine; once you taste it, you won’t believe how easily you whipped it up.  While the process is a bit time-consuming (both the caramel and chocolate layers need … Continue reading
